Latin Music Executive ángel del Villar, founder of The Prominent Mexican music The Label del Records was sentenced to four years in prison following his conviction for crime to do business with a known drug trafficker. In violation of the Law on the Pointe des Kings, Del Villar was sentenced to having violated the law on the designation of foreign nvotics, which prohibits residents of the United States from working with known drug traffickers.

After his conviction in March, Del Villar was faced with a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison but was sentenced to four years. He should start to serve his sentence on December 1 in a federal correctional establishment. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $ 2 million.

Del Records was founded by Del Villar in 2008 and had many fruitful chapters with their Mexican music Acts, from Gerardo Ortiz, to their most recent, Eslabon Armado, whose world hit, “Ella Baila Sola” with Peso Pluma, was one of the largest songs of 2023.

In June 2022, DEL Villar and DEL Records were all accused of conspiracy to violate the Act on the designation of narcotics abroad – a law which allows the United States to impose targeted sanctions on foreign persons involved in the illegal drug trade and prohibit American residents from working with them.

The prosecutors allegedly alleged that Del Villar had organized concerts on several occasions with Jesus Pérez Alvear, a promoter with links with the Mexican cartels who worked under his company Gallista Diamante. Pérez Alvear was accused of having helped cartels in the continuous operation of the regional Mexican music industry.

During the trial in March, Ortiz took the floor to testify against Del Villar, saying that he had seen Pérez Alvear at the Del Records offices and had himself played during one of the promoter’s concerts. After weeks of deliberation, Del Villar was found guilty of 10 charges of violation of the ankle law, as well as a single accusation of conspiracy.
