A $ 1.68 billion project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, will create more than 800 jobs in the nuclear energy sector.
Ok heyAn advanced company of nuclear technologies, announced with Governor Bill Lee this week his plans to design, build and exploit the “first installation of recycling of the fuel funded by the private” in the state:
“Once finished, the new installation of OKLO will recycle the nuclear fuel used, cleaning a lane to exploit the 94,000 metric tonnes produced by the American light water reactor fleet over the past 60 years.
Tennessee Valley Authority said they were working with Oklo to explore opportunities that advance new generation nuclear energy and innovative fuel recycling.
“This announcement strengthens the role of the region as a hub for energy innovation and economic growth,” TVA said in a statement.
American representative Chuck Fleischmann, R-Ooltewah, joined the American senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty in Oak Ridge to celebrate the announcement on Thursday.
