New York and Washington authorities are on alert after US air strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites on Saturday evening.
“We follow the situation that takes place in Iran,” said NYPD in an article on X. “By abundance of caution, we deploy additional resources on religious, cultural and diplomatic sites in New York and we coordinate with our federal partners. We will continue to monitor any potential impact in NYC.”
Shortly after, the Metropolitan Police Department published a similar statement on the social media platform.

“The metropolitan police service closely monitors events in Iran,” said the press release. “We are actively coordinating with our local, state and federal partners to apply the law to share information and monitor information to protect residents, businesses and visitors to the Columbia district.”
MPD said there was no threat known for the district, but that it would increase its presence in religious institutions across the city.
The mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, posted on X, noting that following the attacks in Iran, the city “closely monitored any threat to public security”.
“There are no credible threats known at that time and an abundance of caution, LAPD intensifies patrols near places of worship, community gathering spaces and other sensitive sites,” Bass wrote in the post. “We will remain vigilant to protect our communities.”

Paul Mauro is a contributor to Fox News and former NYPD inspector who monitored the city’s terrorist cells.
“”[NYPD] Will turn off special attention patrol cars in places that could follow the conflict in places that have an Israeli connection, and there are some Shiite mosques – Iran, is Shiite – and there are some Shiite mosques, “Mauro told Fox News Digital.” You never know what will develop. SO [they’ll] ensure the affair with these communities. They will talk to them, they will put a special patrol, a particular patrol of attention. “”
“In some cases, they will even come out what they call a car” how “, which is called a” car of worship “, that is to say that they will park a car marked just in front of the location.”
More than anything, said Mauro, the authorities are monitoring the online chatter of bad actors potentially dangerous.
“You are going to watch very closely online,” he said. “You will monitor a lot of things online. NYPD has a very robust Cyber terrorism program, and you will do it very strongly.”

Mauro said local Washington authorities will do the same, and that customs and border protection (CBP) will watch closely in the country.
“You will also look closely at the things that enter the country, since you can, as at the border, at airports … CBP will be alert.”
