Nuggets G Russell Westbrook recovers from hand surgery

Denver Nuggets goalkeeper Russell Westbrook underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair two breaks in his right hand.
“I am grateful for everyone’s support all year round and I can’t wait to return to 100% soon,” the veteran said in a statement published on X by athletics. “The return is already in motion.”
Westbrook, 36, said that the injury had taken place during the 2024-25 season. His fingers were strongly recorded during the Denver qualifying series race, which ended on May 18 with a defeat of six games against Oklahoma City Thunder in the semi-finals of the West Conference.
An All-Star of nine times and the MVP of the 2016-2017 League, Westbrook collected an average of 13.3 points, 6.1 assists and 4.9 rebounds in 75 games (36 departures) during its first season with the Nuggets.
The double NBA rating champion has a career medium -sized career, 8.0 assists and 7.0 rebounds in 1,237 games (1075 departures) with The Thunder, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Cippers and Nuggets.
Westbrook has a player option for 2025-26 which has a ceiling of 3.47 million dollars. He is the leader of all time in Triple Double (203) and ranks eighth in the history of the NBA in assists (9,925) and 23rd in points (26,205) but is still looking for his first championship.
