Sean Dyche endured a tough opening test in charge of Nottingham Forest with Porto the visitors at the City Ground this evening.
Porto are top of the Primeira Liga having won seven of their opening eight matches, conceding just once. They also won their first two matches in the Europa League.
Forest turned to Dyche after Ange Postecoglou’s short tenure and the former Everton boss is not expecting a straightforward introduction.
He told the club’s official website: “It’s not an easy task. We’ve done quite a bit of analysis on them, and they’ve made a great start to their league and this competition, and they’re a good team.
“We respect them, of course, but we’re looking for energy. I talked to the players about the edge and confidence they showed last year. I remember watching the team travel the country and compete against everyone, which is great when everyone is pulling in the same direction.

“It’s not easy, but things can change very quickly in football, and winning is always what makes everyone feel better – not just me, but the players, the city, the feeling of the fans, all of that is reflected in the victory.
“We need to get that feeling back, and we need to do it quickly, and the best way to do that is to win games.
“It’s going to be interesting, but me and the staff are really looking forward to it. It’s great to be here, and it means a lot to wear this badge – for me and for the staff. Hopefully we can do well and get going, and ideally it will be with a win.”
