Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim admitted that he would probably be without six defenders for the trip to Chelsea on Wednesday.
The Red Devils play a little more than pride at the national level, with their firmly views of the next final of the Europa League, and Amorim admitted that he would choose his premier League alignments with an eye on the Bilbao final.
Central defenders Lisandro Martinez and Jonny Evans are both absent for a long time, while the young Ayden Heaven has been missing since March. More recently, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Diogo Dalot were all injured.
Not only will the majority of this last quartet miss the Chelsea match, but Amorim admitted that they are fighting to come back for the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur next week.
“I don’t know if they will be available [for the final]”Said Amorim.” We are going to try to push. All the players really want to play. I don’t think they will go to Chelsea, but there is a possibility for some in the final. “
Amorim has confirmed that he would choose the United team to face Chelsea largely by protecting his most important players for next week’s final.
“I know the starting XI that I think for Chelsea, so I will see,” he said. “Even the way we play there, against Chelsea, I will see it and it will be important for the next one.
“We have to play and they need to play. This is the important thing. So we will do it, in the same way, if there is a player who can injure himself [and is] not recovered for this game so [it] Will put him at risk for the final, he will not play.
“But if it is not this situation, we will have a lot of time to recover. And we cannot spend eight days, nine days without play. It’s a bad thing for the final, so I think they will be prepared for the game.”
