North Texas: Doordash offers a new drone delivery option

Some North Texans will be able to receive their next pizza order via drone, Doordash and Flytrex.

Frisco, Texas – If you live in Frisco or Little Elm, your next Doordash order could be delivered by Drone.

Flytrex, a drone delivery company, announced that it is associated with Doordash in a press release Thursday. The partnership allows customers to place orders directly via the Doordash application, by expanding a pilot program.

Customers of certain parts of Little Elm and Frisco can now order food in dozens of local and national restaurants, the press release said.

Eligible customers can select the delivery of drones to the checkout, orders will be prepared for the restare and advanced at their home, said the company. The participating restaurants include the King Papa John road location and the brass tap, between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.

“The next drone delivery phase is a question of convenience, motivated by widened capacities that unlock a larger range of use cases,” said Harrison Shih, product manager for Doordash Labs, in a press release.

The pilot program had previously completed more than 1,000 deliveries, the press release said.

Drones can transport up to 6.6 pounds and new generation models will increase capacity to 8.8 pounds.
