Spinner exchange between Wellalage and Theekshana?

Sri Lanka is said to be on the verge of the Asian 2025 Cup if they did not beat Pakistan on September 23.

The Sri Lanka route to the Asian Cup final will not be easy. The island nation looked like the second team of the competition after India until the group phase, but stammered against Bangladesh in its first Super Four match. The striker and the bowling alley have both underperformed.

Wellage likely to be abandoned

The biggest low link for Sri Lanka has been Dunith Wellalage. The versatile, which undergoes a personal tragedy, has not yet presented itself. It looked like the team led by Charith Asalanka with only 10 players against Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

With the ball, Wellalage made 85 points in 8 overs and only took one counter. Played for Variety, the left arm spinner did not succeed. But the bat is even worse. The versatile did not even beaten once in the Asian Cup. Of course, sliding the new number did not help.

But at this stage, continuing with Wellalage does not make sense. Pakistan has several left -wing strikers like Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Hussain Talat, Mohammad Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf. This match will be against him and Sri Lanka. Therefore, drop it to the most sense.

Theekshana Best option than Binura Fernando

The surface of Abu Dhabi was useful for quick quisors, more than that of Dubai. In this regard, Sri Lanka might want to bring another stimulator. But Matheesha Pathirana did not shoot for them. Binura Fernando could be a precious option, but we saw Dasun Shanaka doing the third work of Pacer for them.

Given that Wanundu Rangeanga is their only front line spinner, Sri Lanka found it difficult to keep the race down in the middle of the Overs. In this regard, Maheesh Theekshana can do the work for them. If the field offers assistance to the Pacers, Shanaka can do the job with Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thushara.

But if the spinners get help and Theekshana is not there, Kamindu Mendis and Charith Asalanka cannot do the necessary. To build a well -balanced team, Sri Lanka could consider bringing the Mystery Spinner. Even if he does not take a counters, he can dry the races and bowls in all phases.

Sri Lanka predicted playing XI vs Pakistan
