Ahold Delhaize USA 2024 Cyberattack exhibited 2 million data from people

The food retailer Ahold Delhaize USA confirmed that the cybersecurity incident which had taken place on November 5, 2024 exhibited the data of 2.24 million people.
The update follows a brief declaration published by the company in April 2025.
The violation of the external system has compromised sensitive customer information, including names, social security numbers, health information and financial account details such as bank account numbers.
Ahold Delhaize said: “We write to inform you of a cybersecurity problem that may have affected your personal information contained in the job files linked to you or a family member.”
“We detected a cybersecurity problem involving unauthorized access to some of our internal American commercial systems on November 6, 2024. We immediately launched an investigation with the help of external cybersecurity experts, coordinated with the American federal police and began to take action to contain the problem.
“Based on our survey, we have identified that an unauthorized third party has obtained some files from one of our internal file standards between November 5 and 6, 2024.”
Following an examination of the affected files, the company confirmed that “some of these files may have included internal employment files containing personal information on you that we obtained during the provision of services for certain current and old companies of Delhaize USA”.
Ahold Delhaize exploits brands such as Food Lion, Giant Food, Hannaford and Stop & Shop. It operates more than 2,000 stores in 23 US states.
According to the comparative British security software company, the incident ranks like the eighth largest ransomware violation on an American company in 2024 and the 11th largest worldwide.
The Ransomware Group Inc has claimed responsibility, although this has not been verified.
In May 2025, Ahold Delhaize declared net sales of 23.28 billion euros (26.41 billion dollars) in the first quarter (T1) for the year 2025 (FY5) – an increase of 5% at constant exchange rates.
