No more interim work: CF Montreal appoints Marco Donadel as head coach

CF Montreal removed the interim tag and named Marco Donadel as head coach on Tuesday.
Donadel, 42, took over as interim coach on March 24 after Montreal fired Laurent Courtois following an 0-4-1 start to the season.
“We are pleased to confirm the position of Marco Donadel as head coach of the club,” said Luca Saputo, general director, recruitment and sports methodology at CF Montréal.
“We firmly believe that Marco has the capabilities to lead the club into the future and help us achieve our ambitions.”
Donadel, from Italy, played four seasons with Montreal from 2015 to 2018 and returned to the club as an assistant coach on December 29, 2024.
“I am happy to continue my mandate as head coach of CF Montreal,” said Donadel. “I have a long history and good memories with this city. First, as a player and now as a member of the coaching staff. I would like to thank the club for trusting me to continue leading the team.”
CF Montreal posted a 6-18-10 record (28 points) to finish 13th in the Eastern Conference this season. The club missed the playoffs for the fourth time in the last five years.
