“No kings” protests at the expected national scale during the military parade

Opponents of President Donald Trump’s administration should come together in hundreds of cities on Saturday during the military parade in Washington to mark the 250th anniversary of the army, which coincides with Mr. Trump’s birthday.

The “No Kings” demonstrations should take place to counter what the organizers say they are Mr. Trump’s plans to honor his 79th anniversary and the day of the flag. “No Kings” will follow several days of national demonstrations against federal immigration raids, notably in Los Angeles, where the deployment by Mr. Trump of the National Guard still agitated his opponents.

The Governor of Texas Greg Abbott follows the signal of the president. Abbott said Thursday that he had ordered the deployment of more than 5,000 troops from the Texas National Guard, as well as more than 2,000 state police officers, in response to current demonstrations and in preparation for “No Kings” demonstrations.
