“No explanation” – Gael Monfils makes the feelings clear after having confirmed the final appearance in Toronto for Canada Open

The notable Frenchman, Gael Monfils, shared his point of view on the realization of his last appearance in Toronto for the Open of the National Bank presented by the Rogers tournament, also known as Canadian Open. The 38 -year -old star also thought about the competition on the twilight tour of his career.
Gael Monfils concluded his trip opened in Canada in 2025 with a defeat in his first game against Chilean player Tomas Barrios Vera. He started his current season on a high note, winning the classic ASB 2025 title in simple male, and became the oldest champion of the ATP tour. He was also appointed winner of the male tour of simple turn from Ken Rosewall in 1977.
During his recent post-match conference, the winner of 13 titles in Simple ATP Tour expressed his reflections on farewell to the Open of Canada. In addition, he underlined the reality of his final career and shared that it would mark his last appearance at the Open of Canada.
“It was the last time I played in Toronto for sure. Yeah, that’s not an explanation. This is the last. Then, that’s what you know in two years in Toronto. So I may want to play it and obviously, even if I still play, I think this swing is too long for me. I was actually thinking at the end and I am thinking unfortunately, but the last time I would like it,”
Gael Monfils also became the second oldest player to win a match at the Miami Open 2025 tournament, among other notable achievements he published in his current season.

During his post-match press conference on July 28, 2025, Gael Monfils expressed his reflections on his performance, highlighting his disappointment and also his determination to improve for his next match.
“Without attacking my opponent, but again a bad match on my side and not the quality that I do not want the level I want to make. So look, try to work hard, always try to believe, then head, even it’s not easy, but I will do my best,” shared Monfils (via tennis canada on Youtube)
