No distribution in Asia Cup 2025 in Pakistan? Television channels rush to organize the request of RS 104 CR

Asia Cup 2025: ACC media rights were given to Sony India until 2031, which includes four cuts in Asia.
Even though finally the Asia Cup 2025 is on track, with the recent announcement of the tournament schedule as well, what comes as a roadblock for the PCB is — the media rights for the event are not yet sold in Pakistan. As per a report in CricketPakistan, the Indian broadcaster has demanded INR 104 Cr — while the Pakistani channels are in the talks to reduce the amount.
No Takers for Asia Cup TV Rights in Pakistan?
The Asia Cup 2025 starts on September 9, and if both the teams enter the final, they will face off thrice. Meanwhile, coming back to the business side of things, the ACC had sold the eight-year media rights, till 2031, to Sony India for INR 1400 Cr. These include 119 matches in all, including the women’s tournaments, and even the Emerging Cup.
But then, none of the Pakistani channels is interested to pay such a steep amount. But then, there is a talk about some channels to form a consortium, which could together bag the media rights. That said, the digital rights for the same have been finalised, and the announcement about the same is expected to be made on Monday.
Digital Rights Already Finalised
The report further revealed, that PCB’s share in the ACC media rights is around 25%, which amounts to INR 346 Cr, while India’s share is 65%, which means the broadcaster will make a huge profit from the Asia Cup.
The IND vs PAK match is scheduled to be played on Sept 14, and post that, there is a chance that both teams meet in the Super 4s, and then in the final. India and Pakistan are drawn in the same group, along with UAE and Oman, while the other group consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong.
