Metro Los Angeles will publish two Limited edition TAP cards to honor the late rapper Nipsey Hussle.

The release is part of the Metro X Culture series which aims to celebrate Angelenos which shaped the culture of Los Angeles “, in particular those whose travel began on buses and metro trains,” said the agency.

Nipsey Hussle, whose real name is Ermias Asghedom, was born in southern Los Angeles. The rapper winner of a Grammy was known for his community activism and his entrepreneurship.

He grew up in the Crenshaw district and often talked about driving the metro and the train throughout Los Angeles.

“His story is inseparable from Los Angeles – and Metro, which helped him to cross the very city he gave so much,” said Metro.

In 2019, he was shot down Outside his clothing store, marathon clothes, located near the Intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson avenue.

Before his death, Hussle intended to work with the police service to discuss ways to fight against the violence of the gangs.

Metro says that the cards will be published on August 15, Nipsey Hussle Day. They also say that there will be 12,000 cards in circulation and that they will be available until they are exhausted.

TAP cards will only be available in person.
