Underwood took over for Faith Hill in 2013. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for fans to quickly fall in love with his version of the song “Sunday Night Football”.
On Wednesday afternoon, NBC confirmed that Underwood will continue to sing the hymn “Sunday night football”. Its first performance will take place on September 7 when the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills will compete in a revenge match of the playoffs.

Even if Underwood has teased “High Energy and Stunning Visuals” for this year’s opening song, NFL fans are not exactly amplified to hear it.
“Maybe choose someone else,” wrote a fan on X.
“It’s time to find a new song,” said a second fan.
“Maybe the time to move on to someone who is really relevant,” said another fan.
“The most Asinine song choice for Sunday evening football. No one waited all day for Sunday evening football after watching football all day,” said a fourth fan.
Obviously, NBC is not ready to go from Underwood.
