Newsmax to pay $ 67 million in Dominion to set the defamation trial

The right -wing Netlesmax network has agreed to pay $ 67 million to pay legal action by Dominion Voting Systems, which had alleged that the network had falsely affirmed that the electronic supplier was rigged during the 2020 presidential election to the detriment of Donald Trump.
Dominion Voting Systems initially filed his trial against Newsmax in 2021, requesting $ 1.6 billion in damages. Dominion alleged that certain statements made in Newsmax coverage of the 2020 presidential election were defamatory. In a decision of April 2025 in the case, judge Eric Davis of the Superior Court of Delaware said that Dominion had presented “clear and convincing evidence” that Newsmax’s statements were false and that they would probably make reasonable viewers think much less favorably to domination than if the viewers knew the truth. ”
In a similar case, Fox News agreed to pay $ 787.5 million in April 2023 to settle a defamation trial filed by Dominion Voting Systems, which alleged that Fox News has repeatedly and knowingly affirmed false allegations concerning the actions and influence of the voting company on the American presidential election of 2020.
In a deposit of the SEC on Monday, Newsmax said: “On August 15, 2025, Newsmax Media, Inc. and Newsmax Broadcasting, LLC concluded a settlement agreement with Dominion Voting Systems, Inc. and some of its affiliates (” Dominion “), under which these parties agreed to resolve the two points of justice.
According to the file, payments will be made in three payments: $ 27 million paid on August 15, 2025; $ 20 million at the latest on January 15, 2026; and $ 20 million at the latest on January 15, 2027.
In a statement, Newsmax said: “Newsmax thought it was extremely important for the American people to hear the two sides of the electoral disputes that occurred in 2020,” the company said in its press release. “We support our coverage as just, balanced and made in the professional standards of journalism.”
