New York Storms: Cleaning continues after heavy flooding storms, rails in the Tri-State region

New York (WABC) – Torrential rains struck northeast parts on Thursday, notably New York and New Jersey, rush hour passengers failing on a train stuck in flood waters and flooding certain roads.
Before the storm, emergency states were declared in New York and New Jersey, and the teams had to continue to clean the flood until Friday.
New York governor Kathy Hochul said the worst time was in Queens, where storms dumped 5 inches of rain.

The Avalanche des Rochers all came from the Long Island Railroad Port Washington branch. The owners died and Kosti Agapakis said they feared that it will happen.
“When it rains hard, there is nowhere to go and what I have been told, there is a very small channel to cross and the debris are found there and the LIRR tries to do periodic checks, but I do not think it was sufficient,” said Agapakis.
Several vehicles have also been overwhelmed in flood waters, which has replied to fast water rescue teams.
The state had already pre-positioned emergency vehicles, electricity generators and other resources before the storm, helping the crews to react quickly. A state of emergency has been declared in 14 counties and the state operations center has been fully activated, according to Hochul.
At the height of the storm, the heavy rains had closed sections of the main New York roads, including the Long Island highway, Cross Island Parkway, FDR Drive and the Clearview highway. Certain services on the long Island railway road and the New Jersey Transit have also been suspended.
