There was a title change on WWE SmackDown tonight as a new champion was crowned. The referee completely missed that the star had finally cheated.
Chelsea Green is the new United States Women’s Champion on WWE SmackDown
Chelsea Green was the first-ever United States Women’s Champion in WWE and held that honor for a long time. Her successors also failed to surpass her as the longest-reigning champion, but Giulia did, securing that record tonight. Unfortunately for Giulia, this was followed by a major shock.
Giulia was defending her title against Chelsea Green tonight and even had Kiana James in her corner. It seemed safe for her to achieve the big victory without any problems. She dominated the match from the start, and Green was completely behind, unable to do anything to resist the onslaught that followed, with the star chasing after her on several occasions.
However, there was a point where things changed completely. She gained the advantage by rolling Giulia, and with the referee distracted, she used the ropes to put her feet in and get the leverage she needed for the three count.
That was enough, and after becoming AAA mixed tag team champion with Ethan Page, Green is now a double champion as well.
Chelsea Green promised she would be the new WWE Champion and kept her promises
Heading into the United States women’s championship match, Chelsea Green had vowed to win and become the two-time champion.
This is exactly what happened. The star won and also celebrated with Ethan Page after the match was over.
Now both stars hold multiple titles, and it remains to be seen what’s next for them after achieving this success. The coming weeks should show whether Nick Aldis punishes her for cheating to win the belt.
