Netflix’s Live-Action ‘Solo Leveling’ Gets a Major Production Update

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Solo Upgrade just received an exciting production update, six months after the project was first announced. Based on the Webtoon novel by Chu Gongthis live-action series should play Goodbye Woo-seok like Sung Jinwoo and Creature from Gyeongseongthe star, Han So-hee like Cha Hae In. This latest update reveals not only the production period of the series, but also the number of episodes of the series.
A job posting on Korean forum Filmmakers Community revealed many details about this live-action project, including that production is expected to begin around the end of April 2026. It also revealed that the live-action project Solo Upgrade the series will have seven episodes, which is typical for a Netflix project, as are other shows from the streaming giant, such as live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender, Alice in BorderlandAnd One piecehave a similar number of episodes. At the moment, neither the end of production date nor the release date have been disclosed.
Solo Upgrade is an award-winning fantasy action game that follows Sung Jinwoo, a hunter described as the weakest, but doing the work to provide for his family, who is selected by the system to become a player, giving him the opportunity to increase his power and strength to become the strongest. The anime adaptation first aired in 2024 and currently has two seasons, with the final episode airing in March 2025. It has won numerous accolades, including “Anime of the Year” at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, and was dubbed by Sony as the most streamed show on Crunchyroll. While a Netflix series will soon enter production, another Solo Upgrade The live-action project already took place in December, in the form of an ice show.
What’s next for “Solo Leveling”?
At present, Solo Upgrade has yet to get the green light for Season 3. The anime adaptation adapted 14 of the web novel’s story arcs, and the producers teased what will happen to Sung Jinwoo if his story continues. But despite the lack of news on season 3, there is speculation that a movie could be produced, along the same lines as Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle And The Chainsaw Man: Reze Arcand could be released this year.
