Netanyahu’s chief of staff to replace Hotovely as an ambassador of Israel in the United Kingdom

Tzachi Braverman, the chief of staff coming out of the PMO, is known as “the most powerful man in the Prime Minister’s office”.

Tzipi Hotovely ended his five-year term as an ambassador of Israel in the United Kingdom on Monday and will be replaced by the chief of staff Netanyahu, Tzachi Braverman.

The appointment of Braverman was approved on Monday by the Committee on the appointment of the Public Service Commission. However, the process takes several months and braverman will probably not arrive in London before November.

The appointment committee has given to brave the green light for the role, but government approval is still pending.

After that, Israel will send an official request to the British government to approve the appointment.

According to Israeli media, Braverman, 66, is considered a more powerful man in the Prime Minister’s office. It is known to be strict on what is happening inside the office; Nothing progresses without its permission.

N12 described the appointment of Braverman as striking, since he is the closest person to Netanyahu at the Prime Minister’s office.

Born in Tel Aviv on March 7, 1959, Braverman served in the FDI as a binding training officer in the 460th Bnei or TSAhal brigade, and then obtained a law degree from Bar-Ilan University. He was spokesperson for the municipality of Ness Siona and CEO of the educational and cultural institutions of Ness Ziona. He was also secretary of the Israeli cabinet from 2016 to 2021.

Controversial term of Hotovely

The time of Hotovely as an ambassador was not without controversy.

Formerly Minister of Israel of colonies and national missions, succeeded Hotovely at Mark Regev in 2020. She is considered a nun on the right and believes in Jewish sovereignty on the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem.

It has recently been reprimanded for Hersupport of the E1 development plan, which is intended to cross parts of the West Bank. Hotovely told the Daily Mail that she “considers E1 as part of the great Jerusalem”.

This has led some British deputies (MPS) to call on its expulsion from the United Kingdom. MP John McDonnell told the House of Commons in August that “we have an Israeli ambassador who is a defender of the great Israel, refuses to recognize the Palestinian State, defies all the United Nations resolutions which have been transmitted on the way in which we can ensure this peace, and she still remains in this country”.

She was also subject to multiple threats to her security during her mandate, including during a high -level incident at the London School of Economics (LSE) in 2021, where security staff had to escort it due to violent demonstrators.
