Ncuti Gatwa Joins Cynthia Erivo in Animated Musical ‘Bad Fairies’

Ncuti Gatwa is the latest voice actor to join the cast of Bad fairiesan animated musical from Warner Bros. Animation and Locksmith Animation.

Joining Cynthia Erivo, who was cast as the voice of Jayne Staplegun last month, the Doctor Who The former performer will also play a role in the original musical which follows a delightfully subversive gang of fairies as they turn their magical world upside down.

Although details of Gatwa’s character are not yet known, Erivo’s Jayne is described as a pioneering fairy whose defiant streak sparks a rebellion.

Marking the first feature film released under the first look deal between Warner Bros. and Locksmith, the film is currently in production in London ahead of its theatrical premiere on May 21, 2027. DNEG Animation serves as digital partner.

Written by Deborah Frances-White, Bad fairies is directed by Megan Nicole Dong with co-director Olivier Staphylas. Tony Award-winning duo Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss (Six: The musical) writes the songs, with seven-time Grammy nominee Isabella ‘Machine’ Summers of Florence + The Machine contributing and composing the music. Ian Eisendrath (Demon Hunters KPop) is the executive music producer.

Produced by Carolyn Soper, the film’s creative team also includes editor Sim Evan-Jones, cinematographer James CJ Williams, character designer Uwe Heidschötter, story heads Rikke Asbjoern and Chris Garbutt, and production designers Justin Hutchinson-Chatburn and Mike Redman.
