Liverpool would appear to be back to square one with their transfer pursuit of Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

As many as ten other clubs are now also in the running for Guehi’s signature, with the Reds’ previous advantage during the summer no longer applying.

This is what Graeme Bailey says of Football TBRwho made it clear that up to ten other clubs could now rival Liverpool with the signing of Guehi as he comes to the end of his contract with Palace.

Clubs vying with Liverpool for Guehi have been named: Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Inter Milan.

Bailey pointed out that Liverpool could still sign Guehi, but that no longer seems as clear cut as it was in the summer.

“The slate has been wiped clean with Guehi. This is a new transfer. What was done, said or proposed before is now forgotten,” the journalist told TBR Football.

“That’s what I’m told. All the clubs that want Guehi have started from the same place. This perhaps indicates that Liverpool don’t have an advantage as some previously believed, but again, that doesn’t mean he won’t end up at Anfield.

“Guehi is becoming perhaps one of the most in-demand Bosman free transfers of all time, there isn’t a big club in Europe that isn’t keen.”

Where should Marc Guéhi go next?

Guehi is clearly one of the best central defenders and he will have his pick of Europe’s elite if he moves at the end of his contract.

But what would be the best decision for him? It would probably be a tricky decision when so many big names are involved.

For the balance between playing regularly and competing for the biggest trophies, it seems like LFC would tick all the boxes.

But Guehi might be keen to move abroad, and it would be difficult to say no to the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
