Natalie Nunn addresses Cam Newton interview Backlash: “I…

Natalie Nunn shared that her polarizing appearance on Cam Newton’s show Awesome Friday The podcast was not about answering questions, but about flipping the script.

In a video shared on social media this week, the reality TV veteran addressed the backlash and confusion surrounding her interview with Newton, saying she went into the interview — which began Friday, Dec. 26 — fully prepared to “play the game again right away” after feeling what she described as a manipulative and disrespectful interrogation.

According to Nunn, she immediately recognized the tone of the podcast and chose not to use a traditional interview format. Instead, she said she resorted to overconfidence and sarcasm to avoid being “played to your face.”

“They will test you in these podcasts, and that’s the new thing these days,” she said. “It used to be radio interviews and all these things. They would try you. They would play you to your face. They would ask you manipulative, sarcastic, underhanded questions. They would do all that. Baby, let me tell you, I read the play, I understood it from the beginning and I played that game right away.”

She continued: “[I] I amped it up to 10, I ate this man, I interviewed him, I spit him out, I took his hat, I walked out on this bitch and I really had fun.

She explained that her responses were intentional, saying she responded in a way that she believed would make Newton uncomfortable, particularly when discussions turned to relationships, money and how men perceived successful women.

“When he said things, so why should a man take a bad guy seriously? I already knew that, so I said things that I knew a man like him didn’t want to hear when a woman was making her own money,” Nunn said.

The reality star also admitted that she genuinely believed Newton won a Super Bowl ring, a misunderstanding she later mocked, and said much of his on-screen behavior was intentionally playful rather than confrontational.

Despite the mixed reactions online, Nunn said she left the experience entertained and unmoved, presenting the appearance as a reminder to women in entertainment to stay vigilant during modern podcast interviews.
