“You have to live, don’t you?” Madman Films in Australia has released an official trailer for the film The little sisteran acclaimed French coming-of-age drama from filmmaker/actress Hafsia Herzi, who is currently directing her fourth feature film. The film originally premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year in the Main Competition section – it won the coveted Best Actress award for the star Nadia Melliti who plays Fatima. The film was just released in French theaters a few weeks ago after being screened at festivals all year round. Fatima, 17, is the youngest of 3 girls from a Franco-Algerian family. Eager to find her own path in life, she began university studies in Paris, where she had new experiences. She struggles to develop her identity and balance her emerging desires, including her attraction to women, while maintaining a sense of loyalty to her family. In the casting, we find Nadia Melliti with Ji-min Park (also seen in Return to Seoul), Amina Ben Mohamed, Rita BenmannanaAnd Melissa Guers. This looks pretty good! I’m not sure there’s another story about life in Paris, a more meaningful coming-of-age story about identity and honesty. Keep an eye out for this one soon.
Here is the first international trailer for Hafsia Herzi’s film The little sisterdirectly from YouTube:

Seventeen-year-old Fatima, the youngest of three girls, treads carefully as she searches for her own path, grappling with emerging desires, her attraction to women, and her loyalty to her caring French-Algerian family. The little sisteralso known as The Little Last (meaning The youngest), is written and directed by the French-Tunisian actress/filmmaker Hafsia Herzifilm director You deserve a lover, Good MotherAnd The Court previously. Adapted from the book “The Little One” by Fatima Daas. Produced by Julie Billy and Naomi Denamur. This was originally presented at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
