“My absolute obsession for more than a decade”

Eric Hosmer and his wife, Kacie, welcomed their newborn daughter, Odette, Thursday. The couple are already parents of two children. Their son, Jack, was born in September 2022 and their daughter, Portia, was born two years later.

Odette is not a common name, but Hosmer’s wife had known the name for a long time. Friday, in an Instagram article, Kacie shared his reflection process. The post Multisnap presented photos of the newborn as well as those of his parents.

“Odette Dolores Hosmer 🀍✨🦒 October 2”, Kacie legend the post. “Odette has been my absolute obsession for more than a decade. It consumed me. How do you associate Portia with uniqueness and sophistication?”

“You rotate from Shakespeare to Tchaikovsky,” she added. “And, in addition to a beautiful swan, he would like his masterpiece to be associated with Take French Toast & Nutella.”

It seems that Kacie appointed their second child, Portia, after the character of “The Mercant of Venice”, the popular play by William Shakespeare. The character is a lively spirit who challenges expectations by taking control of her fate.

Having appointed her eldest daughter after a popular character, Kacie seemed to want a similar name for her youngest. As such, she chose the name Odette by Swan Lake, a famous ballet composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Odette is the protagonist of the ballet. She is innocent, vulnerable and painful.
