MSNBC denounces analyst Matthew Dowd for the comments of Charlie Kirk

MSNBC denounced on Wednesday his Senior Political Analyst Matthew Dowd following his comment on the antenna concerning the deadly shooting of Charlie Kirk in Utah earlier during the day.
“During our media coverage of Charlie Kirk’s shooting, Matthew Dowd made inappropriate, insensitive and unacceptable comments,” the president of the Rebecca Kutler network said in a statement. “We apologize for his statements, just like him. There is no room for violence in America, political or other. ”

The declaration came quickly after Dowd said on “MSNBC reports” with the Katy Tur host that Kirk’s “hate speech” contributed to an environment where such political violence can occur.
“You cannot stop with this kind of horrible thoughts that you have and then say these horrible words and do not expect horrible actions to happen,” he said. The comments were made at 3 p.m. before it was reported that Kirk died.
Dowd described Kirk as “one of the most confronted younger personalities, in particular the division” in politics today – the one that “constantly” pushes what he called “the speech of hatred intended for certain groups”.
“I always go back: hateful thoughts lead to hateful words that then lead to hateful actions,” the analyst told Tur. “And I think it is the environment in which we are – that people, you cannot stop with this kind of horrible thoughts that you have and then say these horrible words and not expect that horrible actions occur. And it is the unfortunate environment in which we are.”
Dowd made his own apologies on Bluesky on Wednesday.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Charlie Kirk. During an earlier appearance on MSNBC, I was asked a question about the environment in which we are.

Kirk was an eminent conservative political commentator and co-founder of Turning Point USA known in part for his signature tour events in which he engaged directly with secondary and colleges in the United States, inviting them to challenge his points of view under a banner reading “Prove me the opposite”.
It was during one of these events at Utah Valley University on Wednesday that he was fatally shot dead. Speaking in a microphone in a tent labeled “American Comeback” – the name of his national tour on the campus, he was in the middle of the sentence, answering a question on the trans involvement in mass fire in America when the shot of the pistol sounds.
The first media reports said Kirk had been stabilized and received blood in a neighboring hospital. His death was announced at 2:40 p.m. by President Donald Trump, who wrote on Truth Social: “The big, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead.
