Most centuries of trial among active players

Joe Root is perhaps the largest test dough in the current generation.
England’s former captain Joe Root and Australian great Steve Smith are currently heading the list of active batters with the most Test hundreds. Joe Root, in particular, is just one run away from leading the list alone, as he ended Day 1 of the Lord’s Test at 99*. With over 13,000 runs, Root is the frontrunner to also become the all-time leading run-getter in Tests. But before that, see the full list of prominent players who have stamped numerous tons for their teams.
Most Test hundreds among active players
| Player | 100s | Nation |
|---|---|---|
| Joe Root | 36 | England |
| Steve Smith | 36 | Australia |
| Kane Williamson | 33 | New Zealand |
| Cheteshwar Pujara | 19 | India |
| Usman Khawaja | 16 | Australia |
Joe Root
Joe Root is leading the list of most centuries among active players. He has scored 36 centuries so far. In all likelihood, he’ll have his 37th Test ton, that too, at Lord’s, where no other batter has scored more runs than Root. At home, Root has 21 Test hundreds, while he has 14 away from home. Australia (0 centuries) remains the only place where Root hasn’t asserted his authority.
Steve Smith
Steve Smith is placed second in the list with 36 hundreds in 118 Test matches. He has 10424 Test runs so far and can add up, with Australia taking on the West Indies in the third Test soon. Out of his 36 hundreds, 23 have come against England and India.
Kane Williamson
Kane Williamson has 33 tons under his belt. He has smashed these hundreds in 105 Test matches. Williamson scores a Test century every 5.6 innings, which is even better than the likes of Smith and Root.
