More than two dozen passengers transported to hospital after turbulence requires Delta flight to make an emergency landing

Twenty-five people aboard a Delta Air Lines flight were transported to hospital on Wednesday after “important turbulence” forced a plane traveling from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam to make an emergency landing in Minneapolis, the airline said in a statement.
Delta said the DL56 flight safely landed at Minneapolis-Saint-Paul International Airport and was met by medical teams when it arrived.
Twenty-five aboard the flight were taken to hospitals in the region “for evaluation and care,” said Delta in its press release.
The plane landed around 7:25 p.m. local time told CNN a spokesperson for the airport, confirming that the flight was diverted “due to the reported flight turbulence which caused injury on board.”
The fire service at Minneapolis-Saint-Saint-Saint and paramedical paramedics met the plane at the door and provided “initial medical care to passengers in need”, before some were taken to hospitals, said the airport spokesman.
“We are grateful for the support of all the emergency stakeholders involved,” said Delta.
CNN contacted Delta and the Federal Aviation Administration for more information.
