About 3,200 union workers from the Missouri and Illinois Boeing facilities voted for strike from midnight on Monday after failing to conclude an agreement on an employment contract.
The action comes a few days after the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers in District 837 (IAM), whose members build hunting jets and other weapons systems, rejected a modified contract offered by Boeing.
“The members of the district 837 of the district 837 build the aircraft and defense systems that ensure our country in security,” the general vice-president of the Midwest territory, IAM territory in a statement on Sunday.

“They deserve nothing less than a contract that keeps their families safe and recognizes their unrivaled expertise,” added Cicinelli.
The vice-president and managing director of Boeing Air Dominance, Dan Gillian, said in a statement by email at NPR that the company had “been disappointed that our employees reject an offer which included an average salary growth of 40% and resolved their main problem on alternative working hours”.
Gillian, who is also principal director of the ST. Louis site in Boeing, added that the company was “prepared for a strike and fully implemented our emergency plan to ensure that our unsuccessful workforce can continue to support our customers”.
The workers are employed in two Boeing du Missouri – Saint -Louis and Saint -Charles facilities – as well as another in Mascoutah, Illinois, according to IAM. They assemble and maintain weapons systems, missile and defense technologies and planes, including fighter planes F-5 and F / A-18, also said IAM.
At the end of last month, the union announced that the members of the district 837 had “voted massively to reject” the contractual offer of Boeing. The previous contract expired just before midnight on July 27.
