Newcastle confirmed the signing of Nick Woltemade earlier in the weekend, and they plan to bring another striker – which would open the door to Alexander Isak to join Liverpool in an agreement that would break the British transfer record.
At this stage, Newcastle chooses between two targets: Yoane Wissa and Jorgen Strand Larsen. The two players asked to join the Champions League team, although it is the first one that goes further to move.
On Sunday, Wissa published a detailed statement in which he confirmed that he wanted to leave, and that could have given him the advantage of Stand Larsen in the battle to join Newcastle.
Newcastle ready to make another offer for Yoane Wissa
According to Pete O’Rourke (via football insider), Wissa’s declaration put it in pole position to join Newcastle, although it is still far from being certain that an agreement is agreed with Brentford before the transfer window is closed.
“Eddie Howe would love to bring another striker. If (Newcastle) decides to put their quest for Strand Larsen on the back burner, they will increase their offer and try to conclude an agreement for Wissa. It is now more likely than after the declaration. However, Brentford would need time to replace too. ”
Earlier this week, it was reported that Brentford had increased its price asked at 65 million pounds sterling, which would have almost certainly evaluated Newcastle from a move. However, this evaluation could drop if they had to replace the following 24 to 36 hours.
For the moment, it remains to be seen how this situation takes place. If Wissa does not get its move to Newcastle, it will be interesting to see if it is reinstated in Brentford.
