More home childcare resources heading to Upper Michigan

Marquette, Michigan (WLUC) – The Early Childhood Corporation in investment has just granted two non -profit organizations with a total of $ 184,000.

The subsidy will coordinate the implementation of the UP Children’s Garding Action Plan and the Family Child Care Network.

The Lake Superior Community Partnership indicates that it will use $ 99,000 to extend the scope of its program of childcare sparks.

“Currently, it is only in Marquette County because this program was seated and developed using Marquette County funds as well as action funds on a state scale,” said LSCP CEO Christopher Germain. “But now it will be extended to five other counties. Hopefully that, ultimately, we can make it evolve up.”

The Spark initiative provides families with the care they need so that parents can get involved or get into the labor market.

Germain also says that these funds will help guarantee that home care providers still have qualified teachers.

“To exploit a work pool of substitutes,” said Germain. “This will help childcare service providers when their employees are sick. They can bring someone from the outside and they do not have to close and have an impact on everyone’s childcare and a number of other elements of the action plan. ”

The second organization to receive money is 4c from the upper peninsula.

Executive director Deb Dupras says that $ 85,000 will give access to professional development opportunities.

“For example, at the moment, we are hearing difficult behavior,” said Dupras. “If our cohort gathers and says that it is a subject that has an impact on the care we offer, we will be able to support them in ideas.”

She also says that the Family Child Care Network will organize virtual and in person monthly meetings to share resources and offer peer support.

The two agencies say that these subsidies will be an essential step towards the resolution of the childcare shortage.
