Months after the return of the maternity break, Petra Kvitova announces a major retired decision with the last confirmed tournament

Petra Kvitova announced his intention to withdraw from sport at the end of the 2025 season on Thursday, calling for time on an illustrious career anchored by two Wimbledon titles. She intends to play her latest tournament at the US Open later this year.
In particular, Kvitova returned to sport after a maternity leave of 17 months in February of this year. She has played seven tournaments since her return, going 1-7 in terms of victory. She was also troubled by injuries, having been forced to withdraw from two events during the time.
In an emotional message on social networks, Kvitova spoke of his first beginnings. Recalling her time in her hometown of Fulnek, in Czech, the Southpaw said that she had started to strike tennis bullets with her father in local courts but had never imagined reaching the heights she made.
Kvitova thought about his stay on the tour, including souvenir souvenirs to win Wimbledon and the Billie Jean King Cup, saying that tennis had given him invaluable lessons on and off the field.
“I have had the privilege of reaching incredible heights in the past 19 years since I became a professional tennis player,” wrote Kvitova. “By winning my two Wimbledon championships, bringing six trophies from the King Billie Jean Cup for the Czech Republic, reaching the world ranking No. 2 and much more.
“I accomplished more than I could never have imagined and I am so grateful to everything that tennis gave me all these years. It taught me countless lessons, not only on the field or in the gymnasium, but also in life,” she added.
In particular, Kvitova received a joker in the main draw of the Wimbledon 2025 championships. She addressed her joy to the prospect of playing the Grasscourt major in the position.
“I am excited and I can’t wait to soak up the beauty of playing the championships, Wimbledon once again, a place that holds the most cherished memories of my career for me,” added Kvitova.
“And although I am not yet quite sure what my swing will look like the rigid zone in the United States, I intend to end my active player career at the US Open in New York later this summer.”
The Czech player should play in some warm-up tournaments during the North American Hardcourt swing leading to the US Open, which should be played from August 24 to September 7.
