Millie Bright withdraws from Euro 2025 Affirmation while problems accumulate for lionesses

Chelsea Millie Bright captain became unavailable for the selection of the European Championship campaign this summer.

The 31-year-old endured a long season with the Blues, helping them with a domestic hat-trick, which led him to withdraw from the team for this month’s matches in the League of Nations.

And she announced this morning that she needed more time to recover, saying that she was not able to “give 100% mentally or physically” for the three Lions while they try to defend the title they won on the ground at home in 2022.

Bright wrote on Instagram: “This is one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made.

“Football gave me so much, and representing my country has always been my greatest honor. My pride and my ego tell me to go there, but I think the team and the fans deserve more. For the moment, I am not able to give 100% mentally or physically.

“As much as I want to be there through brick walls for England and fights alongside my teammates, backing is the right thing for my health, my future in the game and especially the team.”

Bright Thank you fans for support

Bright, who capitalized on England in the 2023 World Cup final and 88 caps, added: “It would not be just for me to withdraw the place and the opportunity of another ready player and capable of giving everything for the badge and the country.

“I will support the team with everything I have, and hoping that this incredible group of players will make the nation proud. Thank you to my teammates, to coaches and, above all, to fans for your unwavering support.

“It means the world for me.”

Problems goes up for Wiegman

Bright would have been a shoo-in for the team of 23 players for the euros that should be announced by coach Sarina Wiegman tomorrow.

His withdrawal is another headache for Wiegman who saw the experienced goalkeeper Mary Earps and the French playmaker announce their international retirement during last week.
