After winning an Oscar for best actress for her role in “Everything EveryWhere ALL AM Fack” last month, Yeoh is preparing to return to the Star Trek universe to resume his role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou in the new film “Star Trek: Section 31”.

Yeoh was presented for the first time as the character in 2017, when the television series “Star Trek: Discovery” winner of the Emmy Emmy made her debut on Paramount +.

Paramount + and CBS Studios announced the news on Tuesday. Yeoh will also be an executive producer of the project.

Yeoh said in a press release that it was “beyond delighted” to resume her role in the film “Section 31”, that she said “was close and dear to my heart since I started playing Philippa all the way when this new golden age of” Star Trek “was launched”.

“Seeing her finally getting her moment is a dream come true in a year that showed me the incredible power of never giving up your dreams. We look forward to sharing what awaits you, and until then: living a long time and prospering (unless the emperor Georgiou decreases differently), “she continued.

It was really a year of dreams that come true for Yeoh, who made history as the first woman of Asian origin to win an Oscar in the category of best actress in March. “All everywhere at the same time” won seven Oscars that evening, including the great victory of Yeoh and the first prize for the best film.

“Section 31” will present the character of Yeoh as she joins a secret division of Starfleet and is “responsible for protecting the United Federation of the planets and faces the sins of her past”, according to an official synopsis.

“Star Trek: Section 31” will start production later this year.
