Douglas also deplored the relationship between money and the political sphere. “What is disappointing is that politics now seems to be for profit. Money has entered democracy, not only in our country, but in others, as a means of a profit center,” he said. “People are now going to politics to earn money, and we maintain idealism in the United States that does not exist now.”
“I find myself worried, I am nervous, and I just think that it is all our responsibility, not for someone else to monitor us, but for us to look for ourselves,” he continued.
The actor, who slowed his career considerably in 2022, also told journalists that he had “no real intention” to return to the big or small screen. “I have no real intention to return. I say that I am not retired, because [if] Something special has come, I would go back. But if not, I am very happy to see my wife work, ”he shared.
