Miami Heat vs San Antonio Spurs starting lineups and depth charts scheduled for October 30

The Miami Heat will get their first look at the league-leading San Antonio Spurs on Thursday. After losing 125-121 to the Orlando Magic in the season opener, the Heat are on a three-game winning streak. Even without Tyler Herro, Erik Spoelstra’s team proved that this cannot be taken lightly.

Meanwhile, the Spurs will put their unbeaten record on the line against the Miami Heat. Behind the torrid play of Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs are off to a 4-0 start, the first time since the 2017-18 season. San Antonio is playing out of pocket, but the presence of the reigning Western Conference Player of the Week could give them an advantage.

Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs: Key Matchups

Victor Wembanyama vs. Kel’el Ware

All eyes will be on Victor Wembanyama versus Kel’el Ware. Bam Adebayo will spend a lot of his time trying to contain Wembanyama, but Ware will get his fair share of opportunities.

Ware played well against the Spurs’ 7-foot-5 center. In their last meeting, although in preseason, the Heat big man recorded 29 points, 12 rebounds, a block and an assist. He helped limit Wemby to 10 points, five assists, four rebounds and two blocks.

The key to beating Spurs is undoubtedly forcing Wemby to have as little impact as possible in attack. If Ware can take on the early MVP contender, the Heat could come away with a win.

Jaime Jaquez Jr. vs. Devin Vassell

Without Tyler Hero and questionable Norman Powell, the Heat are leaning on Jaime Jaquez Jr. to step up. Against the Charlotte Heat on Tuesday, Jaquez delivered 28 points, five assists, four rebounds and a steal.

Devin Vassell will likely have the job of keeping Jaquez from another big game. Vassell is a solid defender who could give Jaquez a tough matchup.

On the other hand, Vassell, averaging 16.8 points per game this season, could also force Jaquez to chase him.
