Metamucil Nutritional Information
Metamucil’s nutritional values for each of its products are listed on its website.
Although all products are made from psyllium husks, the nutritional profile of each product varies slightly depending on its other ingredients. For example, Metamucil’s true sweetened varieties contain more calories and a higher carbohydrate content than sugar-free varieties.
Metamucil’s Real Sugar Orange Smooth Powder variety contains 90 calories, 6 grams (g) of fiber, and 23 g of carbohydrates per serving, of which 16 g comes from sugar and the rest comes from dietary fiber.
In comparison, Metamucil’s Premium Blend sugar-free orange powder variety has 30 calories, 5 g of sugar, and 10 g of carbs per serving, and the carbs are all sugar-free fiber.
Sugar-free varieties of Metamucil use various sweeteners. For example, sugar-free berry smooth powder is sweetened with aspartame, an artificial sweetener. Premium Blend Orange sugar-free powder is sweetened with stevia, a natural, calorie-free sweetener.
Metamucil’s calories come from carbohydrates, as the powder and capsule varieties contain no protein or fat. They contain small amounts of minerals like potassium, iron and sodium. Flavored varieties of Metamucil contain natural and artificial colors and flavors, including citric acid, malic acid, paprika and turmeric.
The Fiber Thins range of Metamucil products are made up of fiber-rich biscuits. Each serving contains 5 g of fiber, or 17 percent of your daily needs. These cookies are made with ingredients like grains, oil and sugar, among others, so they also contain some fat and small amounts of protein.
