Stay healthy, stay optimistic, stay sane during these difficult times. Keep an eye out for a few more updates as we head into the new year.

This year’s holiday image is a fun remix of When Harry Met Sally (which contains some great Christmas scenes) in honor of the director Rob Reiner whose tragic death still makes me sad. As we head into 2026, I hope there won’t be as much bad news as there was this year. We had at least a few great films to check out in 2025. Movies now available to watch as early as Christmas Day: meta remake of a 90s comedy Anaconda this time with Jack Black and Paul Rudd; The electric and unforgettable table tennis film by Timothee Chalamet and Josh Safdie Marty Supreme; James Cameron’s epic sci-fi sequel Avatar: Fire and Ash (just opened a week ago); Neil Diamond tribute band film Song sung in blue with Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson; The cleaning lady pitting Amanda Seyfried against Sydney Sweeney; animated adventure comedy The SpongeBob Movie: Finding Squarepants; and the other animated adventure comedy Zootopia 2. There are a few more limited releases to watch: a superb historical musical based on a true story Ann Lee’s will also starring Amanda Seyfried; Park Chan-wook’s latest acclaimed film No other choice; + Choral film from the First World War The Choir with Ralph Fiennes.

THE 2026 The holiday lineup isn’t really finalized yet, with only a few films officially scheduled for next December so far. Currently set to debut in December 2026: the sequel to the action comedy Violent Night 2 with David Harbor returning as Santa Claus (December 4); The sequel to Sony’s board game film Jumanji 3 whose filming just finished recently (December 11); another animated sequel The Angry Birds 3 movie (December 23); and that of Robert Eggers Werwulf monster movie with Aaron Taylor-Johnson (the only one on December 25 – Christmas Day for now). There’s also a major double-header planned for December 18 – Marvel Studio’s legacy sequel Avengers: Apocalypse opening the same day as Denis Villeneuve’s epic sci-fi sequel Dune: Part Three. It has already been doubled”Sunday” on social media. Even though it is likely that one of them will change, they both will not stay on this date. But that’s all so far… Enjoy the last days of 2025. And stay tuned for action-packed events. 2026.
