Mercury seeks to prolong the sequence of victories at seven against the eraser aces

The Phoenix Mercury enters Sunday’s home game against Las Vegas AS in difficulty during a sequence of six consecutive victories, including two victories against the title champions of New York Liberty during this period.
The AS (7-8) are less than 0,500 for the fourth time this season after the defeat of 94-83 from Thursday at home against the mystics of Washington.
A’ja Wilson, who led the AS with 22 points in this match, did not speak to the media thereafter. The triple MVP of the WNBA has experienced the worst start to a season since its recruit year in 2018.
“My frustration was to see the size in a few moments and an absolute disaster in a few moments,” said Las Vegas coach Becky Hammon. “In a way, there is no intermediary.”
Phoenix (12-4) exceeded New York (11-4) for the second best WNBA record behind Minnesota Lynx (13-2) after the victory of Mercury 106-91 Friday at home against Liberty.
Phoenix took advantage of his six-day break since his last game on June 21, a 107-86 victory in Chicago. This victory took place two days after the Mercury beat the Liberty 89-81 in Brooklyn, giving New York his first home loss of the season.
Sutou Sabally collected a 25 -point summit, six rebounds, three assists and two interceptions in Friday’s victory against New York.
Alyssa Thomas, playing her first season with Mercury after playing her first 11 years with Connecticut Sun, almost had a triple-double with 17 points, a summit of 15 assists (a shy from his career in career) and nine rebounds.
Kahleah Copper collected 12 points and four rebounds in his first home game this season after being sidelined due to a left knee operation at the end of the training camp in May.
“Every match that we get more used to each other,” said Sabally, Thomas and Copper playing together. “(Thomas) Finding these cuts and finding these passes helps a lot.”
Phoenix won Las Vegas 76-70 on June 15 at the only meeting this season between the teams. The victory was the second in Mercury in their current six -game sequence.
Sabally raised 22 points and nine rebounds and Thomas 14 points and 13 rebounds in the victory in Las Vegas. Copper made his debut in season and scored 11 points.
