On Saturday, Cummins first sacked Ben Duckett, who was caught in slides. In the second session, he removed Ollie Pope for 17 runs off 29 balls.
Pope’s wicket took Cummins’ tally to 314 Test wickets, one more than former pacer Mitchell Johnson. Johnson played 73 matches from 2007 to 2015, while Cummins completed all 314 wickets in his 72nd Test match. He averages 21.97, with 17 four-fers, 14 five-fors and two ten-wickets and best figures of 6/23.
After getting past Johnson, Cummins took another wicket in the third session. He removed Joe Root, who was caught behind after scoring 39 runs off 63 balls.
