Max Verstappen Fumée in Lando Norris on the Singapore GP qualification incident while McLaren Driver rejects criticism | F1 News

Max Verstappen accused Lando Norris of having made him miss a chance of pole position for the Grand Prix de Singapore before warning his rival that the incident “will remain in the memories”.
With Norris and his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, surprisingly out of action for the pole position on the Marina Bay Street circuit, Verstappen tried to hit George Russell of Mercedes in the finished stadiums of the session when he arrived behind the British in the final sector.
Verstappen estimated that Norris, who was on the way back to the pits after finishing his last flight round, could have made more efforts to leave a clear path for the Bull Red, the Dutchman believing that the turbulent air of the McLaren made him make a mistake in the last chican.
Immediately after the knees of Verstappen, his racing engineer Gianpiero Lambiase told the title champion of the radio: “You can thank your companion for this. Hard Luck.”
Verstappen responded with an explanative, before explaining his version of the incident in his post-session interview.
He said, “This is what happens when there is a car in front of you who cruise two seconds in front.
“It is noted, it will also remain in memories.
“So it was a bit of a shame, otherwise I think it could have been close to the post.”
Verstappen must have been satisfied with second place, but at least had the consolation of qualifications before the McLarens because he is looking for an improbable return in his quest for a fifth successive pilot championship.
Verstappen won the last two races to reduce his deficit to the leader Piastri to 69 points, while he left Norris 44 points, second.
When asked if he tried to speak to Norris of the incident, Verstappen added: “No. I think it is quite clear that it is not pleasant. We are always quite good in this area, all the drivers, we try to stay away.
“Sometimes, of course, it’s always a little more complicated in certain scenarios, so each scenario is a little different, but in this case in the second trimester with only 10 cars on the track, I think it could have been avoided.”
Norris: Red Bull complains about everything
Norris rejected the complaints of Verstappen concerning the incident, because he said that Red Bull “complained about everything”.
“They still complain. They complain about everything. It’s Red Bull,” said Norris. “I didn’t even know.
“I was like three seconds in advance.
“I can’t work.”
Sky Sports F1 Pundit and former world champion Jenson Button said he understood where Verstappen came from, but believed that Norris had done “nothing wrong”.
“I arrive where Max comes from,” said button. “You try to maximize everything and go there.
“It seemed close, it would have been very difficult to remove it from George.
“There are no rules against this, there is nothing wrong with doing this.
