Matty Healy becomes Candide as Glastonbury’s kick -off from 1975 takes place

Matty Healy was her usual and charismatic self on the Pyramid scene on Friday evening while the 1975 launched the sets of titles from the Glastonbury Festival.

The Briton spoke seriously alongside his colleagues member of the group when they delighted the public of 100,000+ with tubes like “Chocolate”, “About You” and “Somebody others” of their varied discography.

Hely was, as always, made fun of himself and others when he started the hour and a half show with a pint of beer in one hand.

“I know that I am supposed to be a rockstar, but it is really frightening and I am really nervous,” he admitted about the performance of music festivals of the Crown of the United Kingdom. “It is difficult to say when I am sincere on stage … But what this moment makes me realize is that, yes, I am probably the best. I am probably the best songwriter of my generation,” he joked.

He continued frankly: “This is the first time in my life, I don’t know what to say.”

According to Healy, the group’s official line was not a policy, which said that the people who looked at the BBC Glastonbury’s live coverage at home could be “disappointed” by the “lack of politics in this show”.

He said, “I want you to know that it is a conscious decision … We do not want our inheritance to be political; We want our [message] be love and friendship.

The singer contradicts himself quickly after. Screens flanking the group while they were playing “Love if we woy it” displayed, among others, KKK ritual clips, Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein, the war in Gaza, Kanye West, police brutality in the United States, September 11 and the Grenfell tower in London.

The 1975 are the first of the three acts to make the headlines of Glastonbury this year: Neil Young takes the niche on Saturday and Sunday is reserved for the American star Olivia Rodrigo.

The Glastonbury Festival takes place until June 29.
