Matchplay of the female world: Lisa Ashton suffocates Beau Greaves and Bat Fallon Sherrock in the Thriller with final legs to win the title Blackpool | Darts News

Lisa Ashton won a shock victory in the Betfred Women’s World match after surviving 11 game darts to defeat Fallon Sherrock in a final thriller in Blackpool.

The fifth seeded saw Robyn Byrne of Ireland in his quarter-final, then dropped the consecutive champion Beau Greaves in the semi-finals, before spending an exciting competition against Sherrock to win the event for the first time.

Ashton opened its doors with a finish of 85 in the opening leg and added a break of 15 plans to take early control of a tight competition, only for Sherrock to take a plug of 13 plans to trigger a series of three consecutive legs.

Sherrock has lagged behind when Ashton followed a grip in sixth stage by pulling a 72 cash register to move against the throw, but responded by winning the next two legs to move 5-4 before meeting the best of the 11.

Ashton capitalized on eight missed darts of Sherrock to hold the jet in the tenth and bring the competition to a final leg decision maker, where she took advantage of the more mediocre finish of the 2022 champion to seal the victory with a finish of 64.
