Match 1: Liverpool v bilbao athletic

Liverpool welcomes Bilbao athletics in the first of the two pre-season friendly games between the Anfield clubs this evening.
The Reds returned from their tour in Asia and now seek to refine their preparations before the new campaign.
The first of the two games starts at 5 p.m. and the second at 8 p.m.
This is the first time that Liverpool has played a home match since the tragic death of striker Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva in a car accident in Spain last month.
Writing in the match program, the boss Arne Slot said: “It will be great to be back in Anfield for the first time since we raised the trophy of the Premier League in May, and we are all looking forward to this.
“Of course, we know that it will also be an emotional opportunity, being the first time we have been playing at home since we lost Diogo. I know you will want to pay your tributes before, during and after the games, and I know we will hear his song ring throughout the evening.
“It was a difficult period for everyone linked to the club, but especially for Diogo’s family, his wife, children and friends.
“I also want to mention the strength and courage of my players here. They found themselves in one of the most difficult positions imaginable, but the way they met and the way they got into, on and out of the field, are a credit for them and for this football club. We really could not have asked for more boys, and I am extremely proud of everyone. ”
