Marvel’s Wolverine AIMS 2026 Release: Venom in development

Almost two years have passed since Insomniac Games underwent one of the largest security violations in the video game industry. The leak revealed a massive amount of information on various development projects, including a first construction of the Wolverine previously announced and the full calendar of the studio, which included several titles such as a new Ratchet & Clank game and a Spider-Man spin-off centered on venin.
Shortly after the incident, Insomniac published a statement confirming that Wolverine’s development would continue as planned. However, this was followed by a period of radio silence which only fueled uncertainty among fans, which raises doubts about the current state of several titles observed in leaks.
As some may know, at least one project of this disclosed roadmap has already been rebuilt: the three DLCs planned for Spider-Man 2. These were centered on the carnage and the beekeeping of the bad guys, with a third intended to bind with the film Spider-Man: on the other side of Spider-Version. However, with the launch of the PC port of the game, Insomniac officially declared that they did not intend to publish additional content, ending these plans.
This clear movement that happens behind the scenes makes us ask us for the current state of projects like Wolverine and Venom, but fortunately, we have received updates on both.
Someone familiar with the situation confirmed to us that Wolverine will stick to the planned 2026 version seen in leaks and that the Venom project remains in development. In addition, we also managed to collect additional details on the venom according to the information we encountered.
The spin-off of venom and other new projects are on the way
The most important information we have received from our main source is that Wolverine is always on the right track for a 2026 version and that Venom was in active development. Although we have not been able to determine how advanced the Venom project, if we assume that Wolverine remains the priority, it is likely that the game is always in pre-production.
There are also some details of the story that we have obtained from a different source, but as we could not check them, we recommend that you take these treats with a grain of salt. One of them would be that Eddie Brock will take the role of the protagonist. This may seem obvious to some, given what happened to the last user of the symbiote in Spider-Man 2. However, this helps us to exclude the possibility that other Symbiote users take the lead, like Flash Thompson, who was an agent Venom in comics, or even an original character. We also know that, at least visually, this Eddie Brock will be closer to his comic strip counterpart, more than his live interpretation played by Tom Hardy in Venom films.
On the subject of the characters, the Venom game would also see the return of Cletus Kasady as a carnage, who had already disclosed as the main villain of the game based on internal slides of the breach. In addition, Anti-Venom would be presented, but not the version controlled by Peter Parker. Instead, we would see the more monstrous version of the comic strips that Eddie Brock ends up using. As with Peter Parker and his struggle with Venom, Eddie can maintain total control over his personality with the anti-VENOM, so it could play an important role in history.
As a final note, We have also encountered clues that suggests that insomniac is currently working to include Miguel O’Hara, also known as Spider-Man 2099, in one of their projects. Although we do not know if it will be in Venom, it is more likely that it is linked to Spider-Man 3. As some may remember, the multiverse has been hosted through a mission in the last game of the series as a link with Spider-Verse films. A simple nod, but the DLC canceled by the leak said it would be extended more. With its cancelled, this will most likely lead to a different scenario, or at least to another link mission.

So when can we expect Venom to be released? This is certainly a complicated question, because even the plans of Insomniac from 2023 showed changes on the planned release date.
It was initially planned to be published at the end of this year, but the most recent data of leaks placed it in 2027. We now assume that this date depends on the question of whether the project underwent significant changes of scale, since what was disclosed was comparable in size to the Spider-Man game: Miles Morales.
Based on a Sony commercial presentation in June, Wolverine will not be published before the start of the 2026 fiscal year, which begins in April. In this spirit, we cannot expect realistically to see Venom to soon. However, the fate of the Symbiote spin-off remains to be officially confirmed.
