Marvel Has the Perfect Replacement for Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord After MCU Writer’s Comments

THE Marvel Cinematic Universe could have the perfect cosmic replacement for Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord if a popular casting choice joins the franchise as a fan-favorite character. Star-Lord has been part of the MCU since 2014 Guardians of the Galaxyand his storyline came full circle in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Although the film promises his return, Pratt could eventually bow out of the franchise, and if that happens, Marvel has the perfect replacement.
Earlier this month, Avengers: Apocalypse writer Michael Waldron talked about his new project, the Hulu comedy Powers of Chad with Glen Powell. In an interview with The playlistWaldron was asked who he would cast as Powell in the MCU, if he had free rein. Waldron replied: “That would be a very good Nova.”
Waldron joins the leagues of Marvel fans who have been suggesting that Powell would make a great Nova in the MCU for years now. However, since Waldron helped work on the script for Avengers: Apocalypseand worked with Powell on Powers of Chadhis opinion might carry a little more weight. Maybe his suggestion might even come to fruition at some point.
If so, Marvel would have the perfect actor and character to become one of the superheroes leading cosmic stories in the MCU – and the perfect replacement for Pratt’s Star-Lord.
Why Nova is the perfect Star-Lord replacement
In Marvel Comics, Richard Rider becomes Nova when he is randomly chosen to receive the powers of a Nova Centurion, granting him superhuman abilities such as flight and enhanced strength and durability. On the surface, it’s a similar story to Star-Lord in the MCU and is great for lots of character exploration. In fact, there’s an incredible backlog of comic book stories for Nova to adapt, all focused on the cosmic superhero.
THE Guardians of the Galaxy the films expanded the MCU into the cosmos over 10 years ago, but, with a few exceptions, the franchise has always stayed true to Earth-based stories. Introducing Nova would give the MCU the opportunity to explore more space characters beyond Star-Lord and introduce another superhero who could become a fan favorite. After all, Nova is already beloved by comic book readers, so it would make sense for Marvel to have him join the MCU – and they have the perfect potential actor.
Marvel should capitalize on Glen Powell’s rising star
Over the past few years, Glen Powell has gained popularity with roles in crowd-pleasing romantic comedies like Anyone but youand blockbusters like Top Gun: Maverick And Twists. Although the MCU’s early entries largely featured lesser-known talent, turning actors like Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston into household names, Marvel attracted bigger names as the franchise grew.
If Marvel Studios casts Powell as Nova, it would be a big win for the MCU and could help introduce the character to movie audiences. Although Nova is popular among comic book fans, those who have only seen the movies may not know who he is. Choosing an actor with Powell’s star power – and talent – would go a long way in attracting new viewers to invest in a project on Nova.
Of course, it remains to be seen when and how Nova will appear in the MCU. The Nova series, once in development, was canceled, and it’s unclear whether Marvel would want to introduce such a character in a team-up film like Avengers: Apocalypse Or Avengers: Secret Wars. But perhaps Phase 7 would be the perfect opportunity for Nova to finally join the MCUand with Powell in the role, it could be a surefire hit.
