Four years ago, Brad IngelsbyCriminal drama Easttown mare was created on HBO and quickly became the definition of watercooler television. Although the overall mystery of the suspect of the main murder of the series was answered at the end of his only season to date, the question of whether Ingelsby would offer an episode of follow -up or another project entirely suspended at the Sheld Delco County Set Show following his consequences. Stainwho drops his first episode tonight on HBO, may not be Easttown mare Season 2, but he has a lot to offer full – Star Power, a convincing double story, and an overview of a much darker belly than the previous series of Igelsby is only scratching slightly. “Crossings”, written by Ingelsby and directed by Jeremiah Zagar (Hustle), East An hour that does not waste time installing its story, as well as the two men who anchor it.
Episode 1 ‘task’ presents the two sides of the law
The sun is not yet lifted, and Two very different men start their very different morning routines. For the FBI agent Tom Brandes (Mark Ruffalo), it is a break to kneel in his bedside in what looks like a regular habit, to hesitate if he should really pray. Meanwhile, Robbie Prendergast (Tom Pelphrey) Wipe the sleep of her eyes before checking her children. Tom wakes up for the day by dipping his face in a well full of ice water, then heads for the career show where he tries to call on university graduates. Robbie manages to take a quick coffee cup before joining his friend and colleague, Cliff Broward (Raúl Castillo), on their route collecting garbage. However, the way in which the two travel through the garbage cans belonging to specific houses do not seem to be part of their work description; The way either of the way they arise in said houses that fall night, wearing loaded rifles. In comparison, Tom’s evening is more without incident, because it pours vodka in a new phillies cutting and finally vanished in its tilting chair.
The two men feel drifting, but for totally different reasons; We learn that Tom was a priest for eight years before joining the FBI, but he has not been on the ground for some time. It remains to be seen whether his current mission was self-inflicted or not, but there are also tensions at home too, between Tom and his daughter, Emily (Silvia Dionicio), which is partly linked to legal problems in which his brother, Ethan, made – and the insistence of the family lawyer to say that Emily provides a useful declaration before the determination of the sentence. Everything that happened with Ethan, Tom also had his distances from his son, stopping only in the prison to drop a costume to him instead of staying for hours of visit.
As for Robbie, this single father entertains the fantasies of having enough money to buy his own private island and to think about the possibility of opening up to love. The same cannot be said for the friend and the cohort of Robbie, Peaches (Owen Teague), who has just offered his girlfriend and who is smiling when Robbie and Cliff present themselves at home. The three plan to appoint later in the evening for what seems to be another planned flight of one of the houses they have exercised – but that means that Robbie has to leave his children in the care of his 21 -year -old niece, Maeve (Emilia Jones), which is tired of being taken for granted, especially when Robbie and Cliff are launching with a lie in the mouth to see “old friends”. When Robbie, Cliff and Peaches show up at the fall house that they targeted for Rob, it is clear that they did it enough times before Robbie even has a pre -work routine to calm his racing heart – but As the house approaches, he is masked and draws cannons. The plan is simple from that moment: attach the occupants of the house under the threat of a firearm, guarantee money inside and come out of Dodge. Everything is going on.
Episode 1 of the “task” ends with a trained working group and a flight has been wrong
The next morning, Tom’s phone buzzes with a text by his boss, Kathleen McGInty (Martha Plpton), an FBI office manager who carries nuances of mare Sheehan (Kate Winslet) by saying it directly. She breaks the bad news of Tom first: in September, she is “for power retired” in favor of fresh blood, but that is not the reason why she summoned it. Tom needed back on the ground, despite his protests – and our knowledge of the fact that there is certainly a plot in class at home.
The FBI is underway at Robbie’s crew, as well as the fact that they hit drug houses, many of which are linked to a gang of motorcycles called The Dark Hearts. Tom already recognizes the name of his time in the unity of violent crimes, and they have a reputation for climbing. In the wake of nine flights in total, A working group has already been assembled so that Tom leads over the next four weeks. The Pennsylvania state soldier Elizabeth Stover (Alison Oliver), The sergeant of Chester detective Aleah Clinton (Help Mbedu), and the CD of the County of Delco Anthony Grasso (Fabien Frankel) have all been exploited as part of the team, but Tom is not delighted by the lack of experience in their files. Their official headquarters is a “beautiful little hiding place” confiscated by the Vice team in Kennett Square, that Tom spends most of his time trying to collapse before the rest of the working group is found. Meanwhile, while swimming in the career with a cliff and peaches, Robbie receives a text from someone named “MZ” about a new house to strike.
Later in the evening, Maeve provides an appointment at home, only so that their connection is completely ruined by Robbie jumping from his closet. The uncle and the niece finally have a lot – the fact that Maeve allowed Robbie and her children to move in with her after his wife left him, and that she feels that she did not even allow to be an independent adult because she was a Baby -sitting service saddle while he and Cliff do everything they make at night. Lies accumulate, just as they did with Billy, Maeve’s father and Robbie’s brother, before his death. The next morning, Tom assembles the members of his new working group; Lizzie is, to put it slightly, a hot waste, and spends most of the meeting to argue with his ex-husband on the phone on how to divide their goods, while Leah and Anthony are a little more organized in terms of speed at speed. This does not mean that Tom is an improvement compared to young investigators, because he drinks enough later to finish the night to have to be transported in bed by Emily and his old friend of the priesthood.
Robbie’s crew descends on their last target, but things are not going as planned at the first minute. Peaches loses his weapon in the fight to attach the occupants of the house, a man and a woman, the first recognizing the voice of Robbie even if he cannot immediately place him with a name. There is also no money to speak, no matter how desperately they desperate the house, and when Eagle, a member of The Dark Hearts presents himself, all hell is unleashed. When smoke emerges, several people died‚Including peaches, husband and woman, and the member of the Dark Hearts Club, but Robbie and Cliff cannot stay, slide a heavy bag and turn to run – until a small voice behind them stops on their traces. “Have you heard fireworks?” A young boy asks in the corridor, wrapped in his own duvet, and an amazed Robbie is between his teeth. While Tom and the working group descend on the crime scene in the early hours of the morning, passing through carnage, they realize that someone is missing at home – the young boy that Robbie apparently had no choice but to bring home with him.
