Mariners Game # 86 Overview, 7/2/25: Sea against KCR

After a slog of a match in which Emerson Hancock left five running and the offensive has never started, the Mariners will seek to empty their first July match and to enter the Victories Column for the month. With Logan Gilbert who goes tonight, it’s a bet as good as anyone.

If you hoped to see All-Star Cal Raleigh, newly created, in the formation tonight, I’m sad to say that it is not in the cards-but look for it to make an appearance later in the game. The Royals begin the left-hander Noah Cameron, which means that Dan Wilson turns to his heavy striker. I would certainly not blame you to flee by shouting when I see Donovan Solano, cleaning striker, but the brilliant era of Cameron 2.79 through his first nine departures of the League has masked a more pedestrian FIP 4.17. He may have a tendency to unleash a little, so if bats are patient, they have a chance to arrive before having to lock against a Kansas City enclosure.
Regarding the Royals, they lack an alignment similar to last night, although Drew Waters is in the left field in place of John Rave while Freddy Fermín squat behind the plate. Salvador Perez is still in the range, however, the fourth kick in DH.
News:
The big story of the day is that Cal Raleigh is appointed departure sensor of the American League during this year’s star match. Cal will be the first start of the navy since Nelson Cruz in 2015. For more details, including quotes from Calboy, see Kate’s Blurb.
There was also a movement of alignment this morning, Emerson Hancock being optionized in Triple-A Tacoma after its difficult exit. The Lefty Joe Jacques (pronounced “Jakes” if you believe it) was selected from Tacoma in a corresponding movement, and will consolidate an enclosure of Seattle besieged until Hancock at the turn of the rotation arrives.
