Anaheim, California – – Cal Raleigh became the first player to strike 40 circuits this season with a solo shot to shoot in the sixth round of the 7-2 victory of the Seattle Mariners against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday evening.
Raleigh hammered a quick ball of 97 mph from José Fermin (2-2) 416 feet in the stands of the right field for his second circuit in eight games since he won the Home Run Derby.
Julio Rodríguez struck his fourth solo circuit in three games at Angel Stadium, and Randy Arozarena also connected for the Navy.
George Kirby (5-5) withdrew nine in addition to six difficult heats of a five-time ball to win his fourth victory in five departures despite not matching his performance of 14 strokes in Angel Stadium last month. Kirby attracted Luis Rengifo to a cursor with the loaded bases to finish the sixth.
Taylor Ward struck his 24th circuit for the Angels, who lost five of the six.
Tyler Anderson gave six strokes and two points while launching the fifth ineffective. The veteran of the left and the candidate of the Angels trade has an MPM of 5.66 in his last four departures.
Rodríguez connected in the third, adding his 18th season of the season to his solo shot Thursday and two others in the defeat of the Navy on Friday.
Arozarena led the fourth with its 20th circuit, reaching the course for the fifth consecutive season.
Yoán Moncada, another candidate for the Angels trade, left in pain after Kirby’s quick ball struck him by hand. The X -rays were negative.
Dominic Canzone has strengthened Seattle’s advance with a single two points in the sixth after the Raleigh circuit, and Jorge Polanco scored a few moments later in Rengifo’s error to the second goal.
Raleigh is the seventh receiver in the history of major leagues to strike 40 circuits in one season. It was done nine times in total – twice by Johnny Bench and Mike Piazza.
