Manchester City against Burnley – Lins -Ups, Statistics and Overview

Overview of the match for Manchester City against Burnley
Manchester City and Burnley are shooting their attention to the action of the Premier League this Saturday afternoon at the Etihad stadium after having known very different fortunes during links of the Carabao Cup in the middle of the week.
The two parties met for the last time in January 2024, when City won a 3-1 victory, and the men of Pep Guardiola aimed to extend their dominant record on the Clarets.
City stabilized after their late collapse against Arsenal last weekend by sailing after Ligue 1 Huddersfield Town 2-0 in the Cup.
Phil Foden and Savinho found the net, while Pep Guardiola made his senior debut to the sons of Emile Heskey, Reigan and Jaden, alongside a crowd of players from the Academy.
This has sealed the 12th Carabao Cup of the city of City in fourth round in the past 13 years, setting up a trip to Swansea.
But their immediate objective is a week busy with the championship matches against Burnley and Brentford on each side of a confrontation of the Champions League with Monaco.
With only seven points of their first five games – their lowest transport at this stage since 2006-07 – City knew that they need the momentum quickly.
The story is firmly on their side, because they have won 22 of their last 24 championship meetings with promoted clubs and beat Burnley in 13 consecutive games in all competitions by a combined score of 46-2.
Burnley, on the other hand, was dropped from the Carabao Cup after a 2-1 defeat at home at Cardiff City.
Head coach Scott Parker admitted that his sole team “has not failed our standards” and the race without the victory of the Clarets now extends to four games in all competitions.
Currently 16th in the table, the men of Parker have fought for the results, more recently by drawing 1-1 with Nottingham Forest.
The chances are also stacked against them this weekend: Burnley is without victory during 19 championship visits to City since 1963 and conceded 25 goals in their last seven high-flying trips to Etihad.
The city remains without Abdukodir Khusanov (ankle), Omar Marmoush (knee), Rayan Cherki (thigh), Rayan Ait-Nouri (Knock) and Mateo Kovacic (Achille).
Erling Haaland is a slight concern after a back problem excluded her against Huddersfield, although Guardiola is optimistic, his top scorer will be able to come back.
The Norwegian scored six of the nine goals in the city league this quarter (67%).
Guardiola turned heavily in the middle of the week, but should restore his stars, with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders, Jeremy Doku and Captain Bernardo Silva all who begin.
The right back niche could be filled by Rico Lewis or Matheus Nunes in the absence of Khusanov.
For Burnley, Jordan Beyer (thigh), Connor Roberts (knee) and Zekki Amdouni (knee) were out, while Jacob Bruun Larsen is a doubt. Lesley Ugochukwu returned from suspension in the middle of the week and rivals Florentino Luis for a midfielder.
Josh Laurent can again be used on a back three, joined by Hjalmar Ekdal and Maxime Esteve. The right back veteran Kyle Walker is online to face his former club, where he was a huge success during his Etihad years.
